If the medical insurance cartels in various states are going to be able to continue to scrape off 35% of the premium dollar for "administrative fees" health care reform is going to be no reform at all. Medicare's administrative overhead is 4%. Yesterday there was the usual right wing faux outrage over a non-story about waivers given to businesses in Pelosi's district to allow them to keep their "mini-med" policies in place until 2014. This kind of waiver is going to destroy any chance of meaningful reform. This tells us how important that "public option" was. Without it, the insurance cartel will continue the gouging of the public business as usual and ten years down the line we'll be right where we are now.
